Transferring an already registered domain name involves changing the registrar company that handles the registration service, so after the transfer, you will have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS entry updates through the new domain name registrar. The transfer process is standard with most universal and country-specific top-level domain name extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and entail different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain name involves several necessary steps and one of them is unlocking the domain. The lock is a security feature, which is being adopted by more and more registry operators. It’s a standard feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain is locked, it will be impossible to initiate a transfer procedure, so nobody can even try to snatch your domain. The domain lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain name is registered in the first place and all new domains that support this functionality are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Web Hosting

If you order a web hosting plan from our company, you’ll be able to administer all domains registered through us via our Hepsia Control Panel and you’ll be able to unlock any of them with only a couple of clicks of the mouse. All registrations will be shown in alphabetical order in the Domain Manager section of the Hepsia Control Panel and for each one of them you’ll see a small padlock logo. Clicking on it will show you the current security lock status. If the domain name is locked and you’d like to transfer it, you will just need to click once again and you will be all set. Locking a domain is just as easy and since the domain names are managed in the very same place as the hosting account itself, you will not need to sign in and out of different admin interfaces.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you wish to transfer a domain name from our company to another registrar and you have a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to get the domain ready with just a couple of clicks. All your domains will be shown in a separate section of the Hepsia Control Panel – the same tool via which you’ll administer your web hosting account. If a particular generic or country-code TLD supports the registrar lock option, you’ll see a padlock-like icon. You can see if the domain is locked or not by clicking on that icon once and you can change the status by clicking once more. That’s all it takes and there will be nothing else that you or we will need to do, so you can start the domain name transfer process right away. The change will propagate momentarily, so you will not have to wait for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup sites.
